1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the HomeOS mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
HomeOS is operated by The Good Design Practice Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales.
2. Description of Service
HomeOS is a household management application that provides:
- Aggregated view of bank account balances and transactions via Open Banking APIs (read-only)
- Household budgeting tools with category tracking and progress monitoring
- Shared calendar with Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook synchronisation
- Household task management with assignments, due dates, and sub-tasks
- Push notifications for agendas, reminders, and financial alerts
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.
4. Account Registration
- You may register using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email authentication
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- You must provide accurate and complete information during registration
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
5. Households
HomeOS organises users into households. By creating or joining a household, you understand that:
- Other household members may see your display name, tasks, events, and financial data (subject to your visibility settings)
- You control the visibility of each linked bank account: Full, Summary Only, or Private
- You are responsible for inviting only trusted individuals to your household
- We are not responsible for disputes between household members
6. Open Banking and Financial Data
By connecting a bank account, you understand and agree that:
- HomeOS accesses your bank data via regulated Open Banking APIs (TrueLayer, Tink, Salt Edge, Finverse)
- Access is read-only — HomeOS cannot move money, make payments, or modify your bank accounts
- We never see, store, or have access to your bank login credentials
- You authenticate directly with your bank in a secure browser window
- Transaction data may be processed by third-party services (Ntropy) for categorisation purposes
- Bank connections may expire and require re-authentication as determined by your bank
- We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of financial data provided by your bank or Open Banking providers
7. Not Financial Advice
HomeOS does not provide financial advice. The App is a tool for viewing and organising your financial information. Budget features, spending summaries, and transaction categorisation are provided for informational purposes only. You should consult a qualified financial adviser for financial decisions.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data or accounts
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App to transmit malicious software or code
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure
- Create accounts by automated means or under false pretences
- Use the App in any way that could damage our reputation or goodwill
9. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, graphics, logos, and content, is owned by The Good Design Practice Ltd and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
10. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Availability and Changes
- We strive to maintain the App's availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time
- We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or email
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
- We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on financial data displayed in the App
- Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any)
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Good Design Practice Ltd, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
14. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time via Profile settings in the App
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
- Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately
- We will delete your personal data within 30 days of account deletion, subject to any legal retention requirements
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
